Good People of vitruta: Orkan Orgun
It seems like you're introducing Orkan Orgun as the newest member of the Good People of vitruta.
Orkan, welcome! Let’s introduce you to the Good People of vitruta followers. Who is Orkan Orgun? What does he do?
I’m a graduate of the German High School and Boğaziçi University’s Business Administration program. Right after graduation, I dove into entrepreneurship and spent the last seven years managing my own fashion brand. This year, I made the decision to step away from the brand and focus on e-commerce consulting. My passion for obsessively following global brands and industry trends, combined with the opportunity to apply and experience these insights in my own brand, made this transition a natural one. Now, I’m collaborating with vitruta on some exciting projects.
What are you doing in Istanbul? Which restaurants and bars do you prefer?
I live on the Asian side of Istanbul. Both the pandemic and my work have led me to spend more time at home, and honestly, I’m quite content with it. When I do go out for a drink, one of my long-time favorites is Arkaoda in Kadıköy. I also follow the events at DasDas in Ataşehir. I’m a huge fan of Mexican food and make it a point to visit Los Altos at least a few times a month, where I enjoy not only their great food but also their excellent cocktails.
Can you share some podcasts or YouTube channels you’ve been following recently?
I’m an avid YouTube watcher and always have a program running in the background while I work. For e-commerce and Facebook ads, I follow several international channels. For daily news, I follow Nevşin Mengü, and for economics, Atilla Yeşilada and Murat Muratoğlu. Though I don’t watch many matches anymore, I do enjoy listening to commentary, which seems to be a growing trend lately. I never miss "Amerikan Mutfak" hosted by Kaan Kural and İnan Özdemir on the Socrates Dergi channel. And whenever I’m curious about how Galatasaray is doing, I occasionally check out Vole.
What films or series would you recommend these days?
I’ve been watching the latest seasons of What We Do in the Shadows and Archer. Before that, I was deeply immersed in the world of Japanese anime and series. I’ve always been fascinated by their creativity, unique reactions, and culture. I highly recommend Alice in Borderland, High-Rise Invasion, and Attack on Titan.
Can you tell us your top 5 favorite brands on vitruta?
At the top of my list is Fjällräven, mainly because of their iconic Kånken backpacks. When I’m not wearing boots, I usually go for Vans or Converse. I find Lar Studio’s patterned shirts really fun. Rains is more known for its raincoats, but I also really enjoy their cardholders and laptop sleeves.
